What do Perry Como and Professor/Dr. Rothbart have in common? If you’ve ever seen the Perry Como show which ran on TV through 1966 , then you remember a popular segment on the show always began with Perry singing “Letters, we get letters. We get stacks and stacks of letters.”
Professor/Dr. Rothbart gets lots of letters, too, and while he won’t sing his answer, he will respond to all your questions about your chronic aches and pains. In this article, Professor/Dr. Rothbart answers questions on how your foot can create pain in your entire body and the link between applying positive thinking in your therapy and eliminating your chronic pain.
How can my foot create pain in my entire body?
An estimated 80% of the world population has one of the two inherited, abnormal foot structures that I’ve discovered. If you have one of these foot structures (the Rothbarts Foot or the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity), as you stand or walk, a series of chain reactions happens throughout your body. The end result is pain. This is what transpires:
All feet have mechanical receptors on the bottom, which are stimulated through touch. This stimulation produces a signal which is sent to the brain. If the foot structure is normal, correct signals are sent to the brain. The brain acts on these signals to maintain the posture in an upright position.
If the foot structure is faulty (such as in a Rothbarts Foot or Preclinical Clubfoot Deformity) distorted signals are sent to the brain and the brain responds by distorting the posture.
Posture affects the health of all the weight-bearing joints and muscles (such as the neck, back, hips, knees and ankles). If you have bad posture, this can lead to joint and muscle inflammation and result in pain throughout your body.
If you have a Rothbarts Foot or PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity and are suffering with chronic muscle and joint pain, the distorted signals being generated from your foot structure can be corrected by Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy. It is a process in which the distorted signals coming from your feet are normalized. The brain, which now receives corrected signals, adjusts the posture to a straighter position.
This is done gradually so that your body adjusts to each postural correction. As your body heals itself, joint and muscle inflammation is resolved and so chronic muscle and joint pain in the entire body is eliminated.
What is the connection between eliminating my chronic muscle and joint pain through Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy and applying positive thinking?
The common overuse of pain medication to temporarily eliminate chronic muscle and joint pain not only has the effect of keeping one out of touch with the workings of one’s own body, but it also dulls the emotions. When we are no longer connected and in-tune with our self, it becomes impossible to undertake and complete a serious program of natural healing such as Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy. To insure success, we must get back in touch with ourselves and take personal responsibility in the healing process.
As part of any natural healing process, the body will go through its highs and lows. And it is during the low periods when the patient’s emotional fortitude is really called upon. Positive thinking, stick-to-itiveness and keeping the goal in sight are crucial to the success of Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy, as without these character traits, some patients may give up before the body has a chance to heal.
It took your body years to end up in the pain you are now experiencing. It will take about one to one and a half years for your body to completely heal itself naturally. But in reward for your efforts, not only will you live a life finally and permanently free from pain; you will also find that you have acquired positive and constructive emotional skills that will help you in every other aspect of your life.
