Yes, it is true that even I once suffered with chronic muscle and joint pain. And I can tell you that it was pretty bad! But that experience is what drove me to find a permanent cure, which not only saved my life, but has helped thousands of others to once again live a life free from pain.
If you are suffering with unbearable pain and it’s coming from one of the two abnormal foot structures that I discovered, I can help you – just like I helped myself!
My testimonial
When I was a child, I attended yoga classes with my mom. While watching her easily slip into various yoga positions, I found myself completely unable to do the same. Even at this young age, my neck and shoulders were inflexible and my entire body was stiff. But despite my inflexibility, I never experienced any real pain – that is until, as an adult, my life changed.
I remember the day like it was yesterday – March 17th, 1991 at 6:30 am – when I was hit by a school bus that took off the front end of my car on the way to my office.
The ambulance rushed me to the hospital and though I had no fractures, I was diagnosed as having a severe whiplash, placed in a neck collar and sent home with instructions to take a week off from work.
After the collar was removed, I realized that something was very wrong: The stiffness I had always had in my neck and shoulders had now become much more severe, and pain was radiating down my arm and into my right hand. My hand was so weak that I could barely hold a glass of water.
That was the beginning of my nightmare; seeing every type of healthcare specialist I could think of, trying to resolve my pain and weakness – both of which were quickly escalating – all to no avail. Finally, orthopedic surgery was recommended to fuse four vertebrae in my neck.
Through my own medical training and clinical observations, I knew the risks of undergoing this type of surgery and the poor outcomes reported in medical literature. So instead, I turned to alternative therapies. Again the results were the same and my pain continued to get worse.
Being a researcher and physician (at that time dealing with intractable sports injuries) I realized that the only person who could help me overcome this unabated pain was me.
Though I had already spent many years in chronic pain research, I was now motivated more than ever to find an answer to resolving chronic pain and was compelled to intensify my research in order to resolve my own personal suffering.
Based on my clinical observations, I recognized two things:
- All my patients in chronic pain had poor posture.
- All my patients with poor posture abnormally pronated (their feet twisted).
Therefore I deducted that abnormal pronation led to chronic pain.
This is why, for many years I had used various types of orthotics in my practice, trying to reduce abnormal pronation/foot twist.
In my mind, chronic pain and foot pronation were unequivocally linked, and I absolutely knew that if I couldn’t find the reason for abnormal pronation, that I, personally, would never get out of chronic pain.
But what evaded me was; why did the feet abnormally pronate? Answering this question formed the core of my research over the following years.
Along with successes, I also went down many blind avenues. In 1992, I was absolutely sure I had found the reason why feet abnormally pronated and secured a US pattern on that research, only later to find that I was wrong.
After ten more years of research, I finally found that the answer was based in embryology and that the reason the foot abnormally twists, is in most cases, due to two inherited abnormal foot structures. These two common foot structures force the feet to abnormally pronate and the abnormal pronation leads to poor posture, which leads to chronic pain.
Once I understood this, within a year I was able to formulate a therapy to correct this abnormal pronation resulting from these two foot structures. Correcting the abnormal pronation resulted in correcting the posture. Correcting the posture realigns the joints and decreases hypertonicity in the muscles, allowing the joints and muscles to heal.
Using my own therapy quickly took me out of chronic debilitating neck and shoulder pain! So, basically, I was the ‘guinea pig’ in learning how to take my future patients out of chronic pain.
Over the years, I’ve seen miracles. Chronic pain sufferers who’ve been told (by prominent, well respected physicians) that there’s no hope for recovery, have reclaimed their health using the therapy I developed – Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy.
Reading the Curing Chronic Pain website will give you more information about the abnormal foot structures Professor/Dr. Rothbart discovered that cause many forms of chronic muscle and joint pain and help you determine whether an Initial Phone Consultation with him might be helpful.
