Profile Of A Typical Candidate For Therapy
This question was addressed in one of our newsletters. Here is Professor Rothbart’s response.
What if I have chronic pain, but my shoe heels are not worn unevenly?
There are various reasons for this:
- The Rothbarts Foot is a less severe foot structure than the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity, so if you have a Rothbarts Foot, your shoe heels may not wear unevenly.
- If you wear shoes with hard rubber heels and/or you rotate your shoes, or replace them frequently, you may not see an uneven heel wear pattern.
- Weight is a factor. Adults who are heavier wear down their shoe heels faster than thinner people. You may not see uneven heel wear patterns in children because they are lighter.
Why is hip osteoarthritis so common?
Another question asked in one of our newsletters was about hip osteoarthritis. Here’s Professor Rothbart’s answer:
Up until recently, you would be told by your doctor that osteodegenerative arthritis is part of the aging process, and hence the reason it is so common. Yet, I’ve seen many people in their seventies and eighties who do not have this problem. So, obviously age is not the primary factor in developing osteodegenerative arthritis.
Over the past 45 years, my research has shown that a common cause of osteodegenerative arthritis is found in the feet.
For more information on the two foot structures that cause chronic pain resulting from hip osteodegenerative arthritis, read my website, Curing Chronic Pain, under the categories ‘Foot Structures’ and Chronic Pain in Hips.
