Profile Of A Typical Candidate For Therapy
When you think of a twisting foot what comes to mind? An American dance craze of the 60s? A foot going through the spin cycle of the washing machine? If you suffer with chronic muscle and joint pain, finding out if you have feet that twist, may be the turning point to finding a solution to your problem.
How can you tell if your feet twist?
Look at the heel wear pattern on the bottom of your shoes. Is the wear pattern uneven, or does the inside or outside of your shoe heel wear down?
Do the ankle and arch area of your shoes lose their shape and bulge inward?
Do your shoe soles wear unevenly? (Certain parts are more worn than other parts. They may even have holes).
Do your ankles swell, more so in the evening? (This may be an indication of foot twist, but also of heart disease).
Are you developing hammer toes, bunions or heel pain?
Do you have musculoskeletal pain that comes and goes and moves around your body for no apparent reason?
All the above signs are in indication that your feet twist.
Tests That Determine That You Have Foot Twist
A simple test that your doctor can do is called the Knee Bend Test, which evaluates whether your feet twist when you are standing or walking.
A more complicated and costly test is done while you walk on a treadmill. Videos are taken by the doctor and the results will tell him if your feet twist.
If You Have Twisting Feet, What Does This Mean?
If your feet twist, it’s a strong indication that you have an abnormal foot structure; either the Rothbarts Foot or PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity. Both of these common inherited foot structures cause chronic muscle and joint pain.
If you have twisting feet and think you might have one of these two foot structures, read more on this site about the Rothbarts Foot, PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity and the therapy – Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy – that permanently greatly reduces or completely eliminates chronic muscle and joint pain.
