There is an interesting post in Natural News.com – Doctors Don’t Tell Patients The Truth About The Treatments They’d Use Themselves.
This article states that many doctors make treatment recommendations to their patients, that they would not use on themselves (given they had the same physical problem as the patient). And that, instead, the doctor would opt for another therapy that had less side effects.
The article also stated “one thing is clear: This is another example of why people should educate themselves about risks and possible benefits of medical treatments and take charge of their own health decisions whenever possible.”
I couldn’t agree more!
We’re long past the day when doctors were looked upon as authority figures whose opinions were not to be questioned. Before any chronic pain patient accepts any treatment plan from any doctor, they should ask many questions. And one of those questions should be, “Doc, if I was your son, or your wife or your father, is this the treatment you’d prescribe? Doc, if you had my pain, is this what you’d do for yourself?
As I’ve mentioned before, I was once a chronic pain patient myself. I’ve gone through the same suffering as you have, I know what it’s like to be overwhelmed with fears and questions. That’s why I’m always available to answer with complete honesty any questions my patients have.
